Scenario 2:
I DO have Microsoft Access 2000 or 2003 installed on my New Computer

If Microsoft Access 2000 or 2003 has already been installed on the computer to which you wish to move the Day Planner database, do the following.

Open C:\Program Files and create a new directory named Core Knowledge

Open the Core Knowledge directory and create a new directory inside named Day-by-Day Planner

When you open the Day-by-Day Planner directory you just created, it should be empty like the one in shown in Figure 1.

Now go the Old Computer which has the Day Planner application installed.

Insert a USB Flash Drive into one of the USB Ports on the Old Computer. Navigate to the following directory:

C:\Program Files\Core Knowledge\Day-by-Day Planner\

Inside that directory, you will see a folder named for the grade level of the Day Planner application which is installed on the computer. (Example: Kindergarten, Grade 1, Grade 2, etc.). The example in Figure 2 shows what the contents of the directory would look like for Grade 1.

Copy the Grade Level directory and Core Knowledge Icon(the Core Knowledge icon) onto the Flash drive.

After the files have been copied to the USB flash drive, remove the drive from the Old Computer and insert it into the USB port of the New Computer.

Open the Flash drive.

Copy the files which you have just brought over from the Old Computer.

Paste the files into the Day-by-Day Planner directory on the New Computer which you had created earlier.

When you open the Grade Level directory which you have just pasted into the Day-By-Day Planner directory, the result should look like the example in Figure 3. The name of the Grade Level directory will depend on the grade level of the Day Planner application which you are transferring. The example shown in Figure 3 is for Grade 1.

To open the Day Planner software, double click one of the two (2) files whose name begins with “CKS_”.

  • If you had used the existing data which came with the Day Planner software after you had originally installed it on the Old Computer, the file with your current data will be the one named [CKS-GradeX] with "X" being the grade level which you had previously installed.

  • If you had originally started with the blank version of the Day Planner, you would open the file named [CKS_GradeX_Blank] with "X" being the grade level which you had previously installed.

Congratulations! You’ve now transferred the Day Planner application from the Old Computer to the New Computer.
